The suspects are Charles Kiyimba and Asa Tuyinomukama, both teachers at Kigeye primary school in Malongo Sub County in Lwengo district.
The duo was picked up by police on a tip off by the parents of the minor after she went missing from home about a month ago due to the pregnancy.
John Ssemakula, the father to the defilement victim confirmed that his daughter disappeared after they discovered that she was impregnated by the suspects.
He said that as a result, they sought the intervention of police leading to the arrest of the suspect.
Paul Wataka, the Lwengo District Police Commander confirmed that they are holding the duo to help police to establish the where about of the minor and the person behind the pregnancy.
Wataka further said that the suspect will be charged with defilement once investigations are complete. However, the suspects deny the allegations saying they are aimed at tarnishing their image.
Sulait Kanyomozi, the Chairperson of the School Parent Teachers Association-PTA said that he has always been getting complaints from parents about teachers involved in love affairs with their pupils but they kept denying.
He said that they were surprised to receive information that the duo had been arrested in connection with impregnating the minor. Amos Wantungire, the head teacher Kigeye primary school describes the incident as shocking saying it’s going to affect the school.
The primary seven pupils are going to be idle and miss a lot since the suspects teach the primary seven class.
Wantungire said that he is going to work with parents to see that such cases don’t happen again. The incident comes barely two weeks after another teacher at St Jude primary school in Kyazanga, Lwengo was also arrested for defiling a primary five pupil.
