The Nnabagereka Development Foundation has entered into a partnership with MTN Mobile Money (U) Limited (MTN MoMo).
Her Royal Highness Nnabagereka Sylvia Nagginda’s 17th Ekisaakaate Kya Nnabagereka started yesterday. This is the first activity in the many activities that run up to the commemoration of the 25 years of the Nnabagereka Development Foundation. The Ekisaakaate Kya Nnabagereka (EKN) is a young people’s leadership development and mentorship camp that nurtures both boys and girls into holistic individuals, social managers and leaders who appreciate and harmonize both traditional and modern values. The Ekisaakaate is taking place at Hormisdallen Nursery and Primary School, Gayaza from January 4 – 20, 2024.
MTN MoMo’s Corporate Social Investment (CSI) aligns with the Foundation’s mission of improving the quality of life in communities in a sustainable way.
MTN MoMo is set to play a pivotal role in the 17th Ekisaakaate Kya Nnabagereka by contributing Ugx 40 million to support various activities during the event. This financial support underscores the company’s commitment to community development, emphasizing holistic youth empowerment, and fostering positive change. Additionally, MTN MoMo will provide an ICT Bus and technical expertise for a 101 Coding Workshop in collaboration with MTN Foundation, introducing attendees to the world of coding. Free Wakanet at the Ekisaakaate site, along with the availability of mobile broadband MiFis for purchase, will allow participants to experience advanced connectivity services.
In expressing the significance of this partnership, MTN MoMo’s Manager Regulatory and Corporate Affairs, Patricia Nabasirye stated, “As MTN, we believe that we are good together because MTN only succeeds if the communities in which we operate succeed. Being a partner in development gives us the opportunity to support the social and economic aspirations of our customers and the Ugandan community in general. We are grateful to HRH the Nnabagereka, the foundation, and to the princess for letting us be a part of this important activity that is promoting a healthy lifestyle and providing an opportunity for them to improve their livelihoods and income.”
“Our flagship program, the Ekisaakaate Kya Nnabagereka is a tool critical for reviving our traditional values and should be rallying point for all Ugandan children and youth as we navigate through life,” HRH Katrina Sangalyambogo. “Just like in sports, the Obuntubulamu values espoused in the Ekisaakaate Kya Nnabagereka such as tenacity, team work, integrity, equity, empathy and leadership among others, are critical for excellence. We are looking forward to a mutually beneficial partnership with MTN MoMo.” The partnership between the Foundation and MTN MoMo is built on aligned objectives shared by the two organizations which include uplifting communities and rallying around what has emerged as an important global cause and concern – youth and children.
