Leah Kagasa took home the Miss Uganda 2016/17 crown early Saturday, beating 20 other contestants at Kampala Serena Hotel.
The 21-year-old from Kabarole district was followed by Kyohairwe Charlotte, a 20 year old from Mbarara district.
Leah had been billed as the favourite right from the onset and she seemed to ride very well on that as an advantage against her fellow contestants and it became more visible with a fine composure during the Q&A (question-and-answer) session.
Leah Kagasa is a student of MUBS and she will therefore represent Uganda at Miss World next year.
Just like last year, this year’s Miss Uganda World contest was again intended to promote Agriculture in Uganda and the contestants among other skills must be equipped with the skills of Agriculture the backbone of Uganda’s economy.
The contest in 2015 was won by Zahra Nakiyaga while Leah Kalanguka from Iganga managed to win the 2014 contest replacing Stella Nantumbwe who was the 2013 grand winner.
