Members of the local government accounts committee have are frustrated after Parliament reached a decision to cut the committee's budget by 300 Million Shillings.

The committee chaired by Reagan Okumu is complaining over the budget cut, which the house says was due to the non-performance of the same committee in the 9th Parliament.

Legislators argue that this cut is not only going to cripple the work that has to be undertaken by the committee, but also affect the image of Parliament as a non performing entity.

Committee chair Okumu says they have are among the few committees that have delivered results in the 10th Parliament and, therefore, should not be subjected to a budget cut.

"The committee has been undermined, yet it has the largest number of MPs compared to other committees which have only 10 members. There are other committees which are idle, why didn't they cut their budgets?"

Okumu has reassured the MPs that Speaker Rebecca Kadaga has agreed to meet them to resolve the matter as soon as possible.
