Singer Jackie Chandiru revealed a deep regret: wasting seven years of her life to drug addiction. Even after overcoming her dependency, the echoes of that period still reverberate in her life.
"I killed 7 years of my life, dropped from top to bottom, and I am still paying the price," she confessed.
Chandiru, a talented musician with a 15-year career, saw her life spiral downward as her addiction intensified. Public appearances and performances dwindled, replaced by isolation and struggle.
"I remember all my friends running away from me," she shared, the pain evident in her voice. "I almost lost my mind."
Fueling her addiction, Chandiru depleted her finances, resorting to selling cherished possessions. Thankfully, her family stepped in, providing crucial support and facilitating her rehabilitation in Kenya.
Though clean, the scars remain.
"I would be very far from where I am if I hadn't been addicted to drugs," she admitted. "The effect is still visible. I am still paying for it."
