Inside Uganda's National Unity Platform (NUP), there's been a lot of worry lately. The party's rulebook, the constitution, is stuck in a never-ending court fight. This all started way back when NUP went from being called NURP. Some folks who were unhappy with the change say it wasn't done right, that the proper steps weren't followed.

These folks, led by a guy named Moses Kibalama, say NUP leader Bobi Wine, (also known as Bobi Wine), broke a promise to pay them a bunch of money for taking over the party. They even tried to stop Bobi Wine from running for president in 2021 because they said the party didn't follow its own rules to pick a candidate.

A judge threw that case out in 2020, saying it was too late and probably just a money grab during the election. But Kibalama's group is back at it again, this time saying the whole NUP constitution is fake! They claim Bobi Wine's team snuck in a bunch of stuff that gives him more power, like having four deputy presidents and being able to boss everyone around.

Kibalama and his crew say they just found out about this forgery in 2020 and immediately went looking for proof. They wanted to see the official copies of the constitution and stuff from the government offices that handle these things.

Now, the original NUP constitution, back when it was NURP, had the party president as the main guy in charge, but the new one supposedly gives Bobi Wine a whole lot more control. Kibalama's group is also mad that an agreement NUP made with another group, the People Power Movement, wasn't followed.

NUP, on the other hand, says this is all a bunch of nonsense. They even say the lawyers representing Kibalama's group aren't even real lawyers! NUP says these accusations are just a way for Kibalama to get some money.

So, as NUP tries to change its old rules, Kibalama's crew keeps throwing wrenches in the gears. All this back-and-forth in court shows just how messy things can be in Ugandan politics, especially for NUP as they try to get stronger.
