The Parliament of Uganda has pledged to give the family of the late MP Ssegirinya Muhammad 150 million Ugandan shillings.

It was agreed that 300,000 Ugandan shillings would be deducted from each Member of Parliament, with the total amounting to 150 million.

Aisha Kabanda, the Woman Member of Parliament for Butambala District, explained that the money will be given to the family to support the children and the mother of the deceased.

"We agreed to give the family 150 million Ugandan shillings. This money will be set aside to help the children stay in school and cater for other needs in their lives," she explained.

MP Ssegirinya was laid to rest over the weekend in Kadugala, Masaka District.

He passed away last week at Lubaga Hospital after a long battle with a cancer-related illness.
