Singer Vyroota is facing serious legal trouble after a woman accused him of pressuring her to have an abortion. Police have confirmed his arrest and are investigating the allegations.
The situation reportedly began when the woman informed Vyroota that she was pregnant. According to police reports, Vyroota allegedly urged her to terminate the pregnancy, claiming he wasn't ready to be a father. The woman then reportedly sought help from Vyroota's manager, Walugembe, who is also accused of supporting the abortion.
While the woman ultimately had the abortion, her parents were reportedly devastated by the situation and decided to file a police complaint against Vyroota.
Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed Vyroota's detention at Kira Police Division, stating,
"It's true he is in our police cell on a case of procuring abortion. He impregnated a girl and after he was told, he asked the girl to abort...this forced the girl's parents to open up a case against him.”
Vyroota now awaits a court appearance to face the charges. Procuring an abortion, which refers to intentionally ending a pregnancy through medical means, is a serious offense.
