After being denied the National Unity Platform (NUP) party ticket to contest for the Kawempe North Member of Parliament position, Alex Luwemba Luswa announced he will run as an independent candidate.

Speaking about the NUP, Luswa asserted that the party needs him more than he needs them, emphasizing that he needs the voters of Kawempe North.

He explained that the party needs him because he is a valuable youth, and the opposition party relies on young people to drive its agenda in the country.

"NUP needs me because I am a youth. I have the numbers, which is what I need, and remember, it's what the party is interested in, as most of its members are youths. Our party is for young people, and those who were sent into the field failed to delve deep in their inquiries," he explained in an interview with a local television station.

Luswa, also known as Muhammad, believes the elections management committee failed the party when they announced Elias Nalukoola as the winner of the ticket.

Luswa believes Nalukoola will not win in Kawempe North, claiming he doesn't have the same level of support.
