Kenyan actress and Oscar award winner Lupita Nyongo who is currently in Uganda shooting her new film Queen of Katwe, which will partly be filmed in Kampala is already causing excitement in Kenyans.

The 12 Years A Slave star was spotted on Tuesday at Speke Resort Munyonyo where she is reportedly staying and at Maurice Kirya's café, Sound Cup, at Garden City over the weekend.

Lupita is said to be prepping for her shoot which will commence in April. She is set to play African chess prodigy Phiona Mutesi's mother. Phiona's story also inspired a book, also titled Queen of Katwe, which chronicles Mutesi's rise from dire poverty to the World Chess Olympiad.

The actress will be joined by David Oyelowo who took the lead role of Martin Luther King in the Selma movie. He will play the role of Mutesi's coach Dick Katende. Ugandan press claims he is set to jet into Uganda next week.

But according to Kenyan blog Star, Kenyan fans are asking if Lupita will take time off to come visit Kenya.

One fan posted on Twitter,

"Come back home #Kenya #wemissyou." Another added, "@Lupita_Nyongo I'm a big fan from Kenya. Your home fans are concerned that you haven't come back home. Come home Lupita."

We have heard that some Kenyans have boarded buses to come to Uganda and have a glimpse at their star.
