Maurice Kirya turned down the invite to on the Tubonga Naawe Launch, because apparently, he had more pressing and important issues than dine with the President.
In a very long Facebook post, Kirya wrote that the reason he declined the invite is because the government has failed to address and more importantly, enforce the copy right laws that allow artist to sell their music and consequently increase their income… he further said that the financial assistance the Museveni offered Is just a quick fix but will not impose a significant change in the long run.

Thoughtful and Smart as that statement was, his fans were less than appreciative as they criticized him heavily for having no balls, that maybe if he had attended the party he would have passed his views along just like Bebe Cool and Jose Chameleone did, instead of hopelessly using Facebook; here are some of the comments.
Emmy Shadz O'mongyn So you were invited but turned down the invite. If you really felt the copyright law needs to be addressed, why didn't you attend, to not wine and dine, but to personally request the President to make sure the law is enforced? Change starts with you remember.
Wiz Wiz Saha Bentley but at the end of the day its you to blame yoself, first of all you are invited and then you intentionally decline yet you are the same person who believes in having the copyright law, secondly no one else was going to pass ur views to the Bigman apart from yoself, then the artists who went for the dinner went wit their own plans thats not even supposed to hurt you or concern you.why are you blaming them when you are there present n alive?Whom did u send there to stand for u?who refused you from attendin yet you very well knw that was the chance you had to settle ur greedy n impossible requests wit the Bigman?yo such a coward that u cant stand up for yourself in such matters involving the bigman n instead go around facebook cryng out loud about missing the dinner in the name of copyriightts what do u even knw about it?you already knw the solution and yo there pretending around hittin bck at innocent artists who are already contented wit their life, think b4 u act coz ur making a very big fool outta urself,u thought u were sharp but u instead dipped urself in more embarrasments coz yo such a biggfool for knwing the ryt path n u decide to walk the wrong one....ahhh ull soon find out for urself
Ronald Isabirye There was a plus side of this dinner and I believe you should have attended and use it as a platform and take the opportunity to bring out such issues that affect you as artistes.
Josephine Ray Atim Well said, but it would have been more pleasing, if you had gone and voiced it out at the dinner and not facebook where everyone comments whatever they feel like. I love your music and admire you big time.GBU
Rodger Ariho Rojje' Y dint you attend and ask YK about copy right? Totukoyaa!! Pple steal lots of funds from gov't, if these guys have composed a song then they have to be paid for their effort! This is a seperate engagement! If u dint want to be among the team then stop bragging that u turned down the invitation rather find a way of engaging YK about copy right dont just think that things will just happen, plan for it to happen my brother!! NB. Am not YK supporter!
Mlord Kaysm Cassy Mr Morris kiyra you turned down the invitation point noted and I give it you.. you have a point but dude your message is to the wrong audience reason being you should have presented your issue to the president in person instead of crying wolf now... you remind me of Ottunu who didn't vote for himself but complained of election malpractice. Beside Rome was not built in a single day
