The police in Kampala have rescued a ten year old child who had been kidnapped by an unknown person.

The child, Steven Mugambe disappeared on Saturday in Kawala on his way to school, and was later dumped near a police station in Nakasero.

Emiliano Kayima, the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson explains that officers in Nakasero contacted their counterparts in Kawala and reunited the child with his parents.

In a rather disturbing incident, Police has mounted a search for another child who disappeared last evening after being picked from school by a stranger.

Kayima told our reporter this afternoon, that Nicole Mitala was picked from Greenhill academy in Buwaate by an unknown person who left behind fake phone numbers.

“Police was contacted, we have recorded statements of the parents, school authorities and we have not got any clue yet on where this child is, but we are mounting a hunt we hope we shall be able to rescue this child alive” Kayima said.

He advised parents to personally monitor the dropping and picking of their children from schools. “People who may end up picking these children are not completely strangers to these children because they will relate well. The message we would give to parents is to talk to their children about these things. Do not allow your children to be picked by anybody let it be restricted.”

He also urged school authorities to be more serious and ensure that only those sanctioned to pick up children should be the only ones to pick them.
