The vice chairperson of the National Resistance Movement-NRM party in Jinja district Majidu Dhikusooka, has been dismissed on allegations of abuse of office.

Dhikusooka was knifed by the party's executive committee following investigations into complaints that he was using his office to fleece people.

The probe team which started its work in May, 2016, has since found him guilty of corruption, abuse of office, fraud, misconduct, misappropriation and mismanagement of funds.

The committee secretary William Kato Kaziba, told the press that Dhikusooka is guilty of swindling over 400 million Shillings from different people and from the NRM secretariat.

Part of it is five million Shillings sent by the NRM secretariat to facilitate district planning meetings during presidential campaigns early this year and another 70 million Shilling, part of a 118 million Shillings disbursement, meant for branch conferences at village level.

Dhikusooka was also found guilty of swindling 155 million Shillings from Kakira Sugar Works chief Accountant Bernard Byakagaba.

Kaziba said Dhikusoka has automatically been relieved of his duties as the district NRM vice chairperson and has also been banned from contesting for any leadership position for the next five years.

Efforts to get a comment on his next course of action were futile as his mobile phone was out of reach by the time of filing this story.
