Police in Luweero are hunting for a man accused of killing his estranged wife to death last night. The suspect has been identified as Mande Ddumba, a resident of Ngogolo village in Butuntumula Sub County in Luweero district.
He is wanted for the death of 26-year-old Justine Nantege. Ddumba is said to have attacked Nantege at her sister's home identified as Faith Namata located in Kasoma zone in Luweero town where she have been residing since they broke up.
The incident occurred at around 8: 30 pm on Monday night. According to Namata, Ddumba pleaded with Nantege to return home in vain leading to a fight. She explains that Ddumba pulled out a knife and slit Nantege's throat and fled leaving her unconscious.
Nantege died in the compound after losing a lot of blood while trying to get help from the neighbors. Namata accuses officers at Kakinzi Police Post of not doing enough to save her sister when she reported a case of threatening violence against the suspect.
Ddumba is also said to have threatened to kill Namata's land lady Milly Namutebi for hosting his wife in her rental houses. Prior to their break up, Ddumba reportedly cut off Nantege's ears accusing her of infidelity.
This prompted Nantege to abandon her marital home citing Ddumba's violent behavior. Raymond Jjagwe, the Officer in Charge Luweero District Criminal Investigations Department, says that although Police acted fast they were unable to arrest the killer because he had already fled into hiding.
