Police in Kiruhura has arrested 10 people on allegations of cattle theft in an operation against livestock theft.
According to Patrick Omala the Kiruhura DPC, the suspects have been operating an organized group led by a one Ret. Rev. Richard Ampurire.
Police arrested Ampurire last week and recovered 55 cows and 120 goats at his home in Katengyeeto cell, Rwemikoma Sub County in Kazo County. The retired reverend was preparing to sell his loot off.
The 10 suspects arrested this week were picked from different parts of the district and more will be arrested.
Farmers have been complaining about theft of their animals over the years. At least 100 cows are stolen every month in Kiruhura district.
