Police in Kabale have arrested a man for the alleged murder of his 50-year-old biological mother.
The suspect is Benon Tumwesigye a resident of Hakabungo cell Mukalange ward Katuna town council. Tumwesigye is alleged to have hit his mother with a hoe on the head one Provia Busingye Rwandan nationals of the same address.
It's alleged that, the suspect divorced his wife who went back to her parent's home in Rwanda while pregnant.
Unfortunately, on 05/02/2023, she had a still birth.
However, the suspect accused his own mother of bewitching his wife and their dead child.
Today, at about 02:00hrs while the deceased, her daughter, the suspect and others were at home preparing to go for burial, Tumwesigye attacked his mother and hit her with a hoe on the head several times, killing her instantly.
Police at Katuna police station was notified and visited the scene together with the Kabale team.
ASP Maate Elly the PRO Kigezi says that they recovered exhibits of two hoes with suspected blood stains at the crime scene.
The body was also retrieved and taken to Kabale referral hospital mortuary for postmortem.
The suspect has been arrested and inquiries are ongoing.
