Former Mpaka Records artist Dre Cali quit music in Uganda for kyeyo in Canada. He left the label without notice, to the disappointment of his boss, Ykee Benda.
The latest we have gathered is that the grass isn’t greener yet on the other side.
Dre Cali is said to be living in a shelter that can be compared to a high school dormitory.
Shelters in Canada are places where people who have no proper documentation are allowed to stay.
The once-promising singer is said to be sleeping on a decker, according to a source.
Asked whether he is aware, Ykee Benda said he has no information but said he feels sorry for him in case everything is true.
“I wouldn’t want him to be in a bad situation. I wish him success,” Ykee Benda said.
It should be noted that before Dre Cali disappeared, he was battling a case with a label named Wyse Technologies. The label accused him of entering into a new contract with Mpaka Records yet he was still signed to their label. Wyse slapped the artiste to sue and demanded 80 million Uganda shillings as compensation.
