When Kenzo got a Grammy nomination, the conversation in the industry was that he is selfish and doesn’t share contacts that have helped him win international recognition.
Dancer Tip Swizzy, who started with Kenzo has revealed that whereas many clamor to get his contacts, he can’t do the same.
“He is not there yet, at that level where I feel that he has the keys to my next step. I think he still has a lot to do,” Tip Swizzy explained.
Tip Swizzy also used the interview to trash Kenzo’s rendition of "Born in Africa" saying that it is a mediocre song.
“Kenzo killed the late’s song. I couldn’t even listen to it for a minute,” he concluded.
Tip Swizzy and Eddy Kenzo parted ways over money-related issues.
According to Tip Swizzy, Kenzo was exploiting him, getting him on planes to countries thousands of miles from Uganda with zero compensation for his time and effort.
Kenzo and Tip Swizzy worked on many songs together like "Bolingo" in 2011, "Nkulungula" in 2014, and "Shake your body" in 2015.
