The Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, welcomed Congolese soukous sensation Awilo Longomba at the Special Forces Command Headquarters in Entebbe on Monday afternoon.
The gathering was also attended by the Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, Balaam Barugahara, and NRM Secretary General, Richard Todwong.
Awilo Longomba, whose full name is Louis Albert William Longomba, is in Uganda for a concert called Afro-exclusive. He will headline the event alongside Nigerian singer and songwriter Chike.
The concert is set for Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel.
Last year, Gen. Kainerugaba met Jamaican music icon Konshens, where they discussed the potential for collaboration between the Jamaican and Ugandan music industries, emphasizing the shared opportunities and vibrant music cultures in both nations.
Longomba is renowned for hits like “Karolina,” “Bundelele,” “Mobimba Ya Mama,” “Porokondo,” and “Champion,” among others. Chike is known for his popular tracks such as “Running,” “If You No Love,” “Insecure,” and “Roju.”
