Recently, nudity has become more common in Ugandan music, with figures like Gloria Bugie currently under CID investigation. Eddy Kenzo, President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation, believes nudity is prevalent because artists often imitate global trends and seek ways to gain internet attention.
He also attributes this trend to fans who quickly share nude content and support artists involved in it.
“I think they copy world trends and forget their culture. It’s also influenced by the people’s demand, as nudity trends faster here, and many artists give fans what they want to see,” he explained.
Kenzo urged musicians to stay true to their African roots and uphold their culture, despite competition from other regions. He also encouraged fans to stop seeking out nude content.
“I urge them to remain Africans and respect their culture, but fans should also stop looking out for nude content,” he added.
Kenzo revealed that he plans to meet with the Uganda Communications Commission and other stakeholders to discuss ways to address nudity in the industry.
