Events promoter and Minister Balaam Barugahare has announced that he will not promote violent artists for a period of six months as a disciplinary measure.

Balaam, who did not specify the banned artists, explained that they would face further consequences for the good of society and the music industry.

"ZERO TOLERANCE FOR VIOLENCE IN THE ARTS
Effective immediately, as a promoter and through our agency, we shall not associate with or promote any artist affiliated with gangs or involved in violence against others.

Consequences for Offenders:

  • No features in our organized events for six months."

He partly wrote this on his X handle.

Balaam added that the banned artists would only receive promotion from him after demonstrating a change in behavior. His efforts aim to restore discipline and decency in the arts sector.

"Mandatory behavior change before reconsideration.
Let’s restore discipline and decency in the art sector. Join me in condemning violence and promoting peaceful coexistence," he explained.

Balaam’s comments come just a day after an altercation between Alien Skin’s gang and Pallaso’s associates during a performance at the Empele Festival, which took place over the weekend at Buloba Forest Park.

Pallaso and his associates retaliated this morning by attacking Alien Skin’s home, leaving property destroyed.
