Incarcerated former city socialite Shanita Namuyimbwa aka Bad Black has petitioned the constitutional court over a new bail application following what she says is ill health.

Appearing before a three man panel of Judges on Tuesday who included Engode Ntende and Prof Tibatemwa, Bad Black through her lawyers Alfred Okello and David Kavuma claimed to have medical problems and that she needed to be granted bail to seek treatment as soon as possible or her condition will worsen.

Alfred Okello the lead counsel of Bad black further said that since the applicant was convicted, she has now served a third of the sentence and therefore requested court to look into the matter.

However, the three senior judges advised Bad Black to re-apply for bail citing the absence of the Director of Public Prosecutions at the session and adjourned the hearing to the 26th June 2014 at 9:30 am.

Catherine Bamugemereire sentenced Shanita Namuyimbwa a.k.a Bad Black to four years in prison after convicting her of fraud. Her lover, Meddie Ssentongo was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment over the same and has since done his time and is now a freeman.

Black was convicted for embezzling US$3.9m from the company she jointly owned with her ex-lover, a British engineer, David Greenhalgh. She was also jointly convicted with Meddie on two counts of conspiracy to defraud.
