The island nations of Kiribati and Samoa are the first countries to celebrate the new year. This is due to their position immediately west of the International Date Line, which determines the start and end of the time zone cycle. Hawaii is among the last to celebrate the New Year.

At 2pm Ugandan time, Island nations of Kiribati and Samoa will be celebrating their new year, as most Ugandan will be still enjoying their lunch.

At 3pm Ugandan time, New Zealand will be the next country to celebrate the New Year in style. At 4pm, Russia, 5pm-Australia will follow up, 6pm-Japan, South Korea and North Korea, 7pm- China.

Then 11 am tomorrow morning Ugandan time- when most of Ugandan will be nursing their hang over, USA will finally see the New year.
