Gospel artiste and one of MTV Base’s coordinator in Uganda, Isaac Gucci explained why the MAMA Awards were postponed. He noted that the major reason was COVID-19 restrictions imposed in countries like the UK.
In an interview over the weekend, Rucci dismissed claims that the political environment in Uganda was the main factor.
“As you know a lockdown has been imposed again in the UK. Some of the people we wanted to work with are there and can no longer move from one place to another. That’s the main issue, but soon we’ll announce a way forward,” Rucci explained.
There have been calls by Ugandans online to cancel the biggest music celebration in Uganda. The Awards were slated to happen on 20th, February 2021.
