One person has died of cholera at the isolation center at Nakapelimen Health Centre II in Moroto district months after the outbreak of the deadly disease.

According to the acting Moroto District Health Officer Vincent Muron, the 16 year old victim died over the weekend shortly after she was rushed to the health center for treatment.

Muron adds that the 16-old girl fell sick on Wednesday but her family delayed to take her to hospital for treatment., The In Charge of Nakapelimen Health Centre II, Salume Amoding says nine cholera victims are hospitalized, two of them ‘in critical condition.'                                                   

Cholera is an infectious disease that is caused by eating food or drinking water contaminated with a bacterium known as vibrio Cholera. An infected person presents with diarrhea, vomiting and loss of appetite.
