The ministry of tourism has unveiled the Ishasha, Uganda Wild run and walk 2016.
The activity is set to take place on November 12th in Kinkizi, Kanungu district.
This was unveiled by Hon. Prof Ephraim Kamuntu the tourism minister in Kampala today morning.
The minister explained that the purpose of the wild run and walk is to enhance the wildlife conservation awareness drive. “Over 1,000 people from communities adjacent to both Queen Elizabeth and Bwindi Impenetrable National Parka communities are expected to participate in this drive” the Minister said.
The event is one of the Annual Kinkiizi Tourism and Conservation Awareness Week long activities that will run from 6th to 12th November 2016.
He added; “The Ishasha, Uganda Wild run and walk will go a long way to highlight the tourism potential of Destination Kinkiizi with Ishasha’s Tree Climbing lions as the face of Queen Elizabeth National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park as a home to Mountain Gorillas.”
The chief runner is Rt. Hon. Daniel Kidega, the speaker of the East African Legislative Assemble, EALA. A good number of members of parliament will also attend the run and walk.
