The Uganda parliament football team has qualified for the semi-finals of the East African Community (EAC) Inter-Parliamentary games currently taking place in Mombasa, Kenya.

Uganda is now joined by Tanzania in the semi-finals though the latter lost 0-1 to Kenya in the last group game played yesterday. Uganda was in Group A together with Kenya and Tanzania.

In the preliminary group stages, Uganda defeated Kenya 1-0 but lost to Tanzania 2-1. Uganda and Tanzania qualified because they had a superior goal difference compared to Kenya.

The team today faces the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) team in a game to be played at Mbaraki Sports Grounds.

This is the fourth time in four years that Uganda Parliament team qualifies for semi- finals. The legislators will be looking for the fourth consecutive trophy in the games having won the finals in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

MPs making the Uganda parliament football team include Makindye West Allan Sewanyana, Nakifuma County MP Robert Kafeero Sekitoleko, Kampala Central MP Muhammad Nsereko, Aruu South MP Odonga Otto, Butemba County MP Pentagon Kamusiime, Kigulu South MP Andrew Kaluya, and Ayivu County MP Benard Atiku among others.

In the other games played on Wednesday, the Uganda parliament ladies volley ball team lost 2-1 to Tanzania but face the same team in netball this morning.

Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) representative in Parliament, General Ivan Koreta, captained the Golf team to win Silver in the Inter- Parliament Golf tournament played at Nyali Golf Club.  

The team that also had Captain Evelyn Asiimwe and Katooto Hatwib scored 52 points, below Team Kenya that posted 55 points. EALA captained by Speaker Dan Kidega walked away with bronze.
