At least two journalists have allegedly been arrested by the Uganda police force officers in Entebbe as they attempted to cover the return of Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi from the US.
This morning, some journalists tweeted that they had been picked from Entebbe by police and driven back to their respective stations of work.
Yesterday, police warned there would be no need for any processions or even coverage of the MP’s arrival. Police said it would only allow his family members at the Airport. However, this might not be the case as police arrested his brother Eddie Yawe when he showed up. Also arrested is his music partner Nubian Li.
The two journalists who are in aviation custody are Charles Katabalwa a News reporter at Radio Sapientia and Kiberu Sirage from KTV. Their equipment was also confiscated by police.
Bobi is expected to arrive this afternoon and according to police, he will be escorted home immediately. However, Bobi says he plans on visiting his ailing grandmother on the way from Entebbe and that police will not tell him where not to go.
There is heavy security deployment and the city is on tension as people await what will happen after he touches ground.
