Uganda cranes team is UGX 200 million richer as they head to Lesotho for their Africa Cup of Nations encounter next Tuesday.
The money was gifted to them by President Yoweri Museveni during a meeting at state house Entebbe last evening. The president met Uganda Cranes squad and congratulated them for their recent achievements, including their participation in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
“I watched some of their games in Gabon but noticed their shots were lacking in power. I hope the managers can do something about the diet and training to ensure the players are stronger, like the late David Otii was” he said.
He also promised that government will charter a plane to Maseru ahead of their AFCON 2019 tie against Lesotho on October 16.
Cranes Play Lesotho this Saturday at Namboole before the return leg. “I hope the team maintains their top spot and qualifies for the 2019 championship in Cameroon. Each player will also receive a token of appreciation” he prayed and promised. The team has been training ahead of the Saturday and Tuesday games.
On Tuesday, they were seen at Kabira country club gym with their coach. The team has also been doing training at Lugogo and Namboole pitches ahead of the games.
