The ruling National Resistance Movement, NRM leaders in the Tooro Sub-region have unanimously passed a resolution to endorse President Yoweri Museveni as their sole candidate for the NRM chairperson seat and as their 2021 presidential candidate.
This resolution was passed at the end of a four-hour interactive session between the President and the over 1,000 leaders at Kalya Courts Hotel in Fort Portal town.
President Museveni had used the lively engagement to rally the leaders from Kabarole, Kyenjojo, Kyegegwa, Bunyangabu and Kamwenge districts in the fight against household poverty.
While reading the endorsement, Kamwenge District Chairman Aggrey Natuhamya said they supported the resolutions of the NRM Central Executive Committee and the NRM Parliamentary Caucus to front President Museveni in 2021 and beyond.
The resolution which was seconded by all the other four district chairpersons present said the decision was premised on the fact that President Museveni was time tested, experienced and had the right vision to take the country forward.
President Museveni in response said he was happy that the NRM supporters were speaking with one voice, adding that it would build cohesion and strengthen the party.
He thanked the leaders of Tooro sub-region for putting trust in him and endorsing him to take the NRM and the country forward, adding that he was committed to overseeing Uganda's transformation.
