Police is investigating circumstances underwhich unidentified thugs shot dead a woman in Luweero and made off with her motorcycle. The deceased has been identified as 21-year-old Sarah Namazzi, a resident of Bugabo-Kibanyi village in Bamunanika Sub County in Luweero district.
The victim was gunned down at her home in Bugabo-Kibanyi village in the wee hours of this morning. According to Edward Ssekandi, the Kibanyi Parish LC 2 Chairperson, robbers struck around 1am on Thursday morning and tied the deceased’s husband, Joseph Ssentongo with ropes before attempting to steal a motorcycle.
Ssekandi explains that Namazzi tried to fight the robbers, prompting the thugs to open fire and kill her on the spot before they took the motorcycle registration number UER 677L. Ssekandi says that Namazzi was shot in the chest killing her instantly.
The acting Luweero District Police Commander, Rebecca Ayeta says Namazzi’s body has been taken to city mortuary for postmortem. According to Ayeta, preliminary investigations show that there were three assailants, adding that they have launched a manhunt for them.
More than ten motorcycles have been stolen in Luweero district since this year begun. In 2018, Savannah region which includes Luweero district, registered 22 cases.
