MTN uganda launched Freedom data bundles which don't have no time limit for expiration a few weeks after a Ugandan sued telecom companies over expiry of data.

Last month, East African Legislative Assembly Uganda representative, Dennis Namara, petitioned High court in Kampala over the expiry of data bundles by telecom companies. MTN couldn't wait for the outcome from the courts of law, it decided to introduce the new data bundles.

The offering allows internet users to get 6MB , 80MB and 1GB  for Shs. 100, 1000 and 10,000 respectively. These will have no time limit when they expire.
The new offers are more expensive if compared to the normal data bundles on the market.

The data expiration will depend on what the user does with the internet. Surfing on heavy websites, downloading big videos and documents could mean that your data will be depleted very faster.

However, a number of their customers are still doubting this offer.  Many have referred to the new data bundles as a scam by the leading telecommunications company.

Customers are saying  the data bundles are not user friendly and their aim is to cheat them

"Why dictate which bundles should have freedom not to expire now have have given us 6mbs really that's so sick guys u can't read an email even with 6mbs this makes you cheaters," Jonathan Kat posted.

"I have over 300mbs left before my Internet expires and suddenly the Internet is slow....So how will this freedom bundle work when we are being cheated even with the limited data we buy.. by the way this is the second time this is happening in the space of two months," Florence.

"It's hard for me to believe what MTN is offering because even the "kasupu" bundles of calling another network are fake. You put five minutes, but within one minute they are finished. MTN can never do something where it doesn't gain," Agabs

Over the years, MTN Uganda has been accused of cheating their clients through bogus telephone transactions where clients lose huge sums of money.
