The police in Kaberamaido are stuck with a three months baby girl after it's mother dumped her in Arabaka Cell- A in Kaberamaido Sub County.
According to Janet Amuge, the Officer in Charge of the Child and Family Protection Unit at Kaberamaido Police Station, they received information around 4:30 PM on Sunday regarding a child found crying alone in a nearby bush.
The little baby was discovered by children who informed a passersby who later ran to the Police station after finding that the child had no caretaker.
The officer adds that the child is suspected to be born outside wedlock and the mother decided to dump it after failing to care for it.
Police is now worried that the baby’s health condition and care could be compromised since they do not have home care services for such little children. Police has since recorded a case of child abandonment under SDR15/12/01/2020.
According to residents, the child was heard crying in the bush around 1:00PM but they ignored thinking that she was with her mother until when children took it upon themselves to find out why the child had cried for long.
