Four people have been confirmed dead after a motorcycle they were travelling on was involved in an accident at Bulemwa Village in Bujumbura division along Hoima Kaiso Tonya road in Hoima district at around 8pm on Wednesday night.
Police identified the deceased as Mungu Jakisa Bacu, Emmanuel Odar and Harriet, all residents of Buhirigi village in Bombo Sub County in Hoima district, while fourth victim is a child whose identity wasn’t readily available by press time.
The deceased were all riding on one Bajaj motorcycle registration number UDZ 213M to Hoima town, which rammed into a stationery tractor that had packed on the roadside.
They all died on the spot, according to Canicious Mugisa, the Hoima District Traffic Officer. The police say they are hunting for the driver of the Tractor who is still at large.
According to Mugisa, they are investigating why the driver abandoned the Tractor by the road side. It is alleged that Mungu Jakisa Bacu, one of the accident victims, was rushing his child to Hoima Hospital, while other victims were escorting them when they all got killed.
