Grief has struck Queen Zainab primary school in Bugaya Sub County in Buyende district after lightning killed two teachers and left 15 pupils seriously injured.
The duo identified as Babra Birungi and Mathias Wandyaka was killed on Wednesday evening during rainfall characterized by hailstorm.
According to their colleague Christine Babirye, the heavy rain forced pupils and teachers to lock themselves in the main hall where tragedy befell them.
The Busoga North Region Police Spokesperson Michael Kasadha says the injured pupils were rushed to Ikumbya health centre IV for treatment.
The police are also engaging parents to ensure that the critically injured pupils are rushed to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital for further management.
Now, Robert Ziribasanga the Buyende District LC 5 chairperson says government should freely distribute lightning conductors to rural schools.
