Police have arrested three Local Defense Unit-LDUs personnel attached to Kamdini Police Outpost for allegedly assaulting a civilian to death.
Michael Odongo, the North Kyoga Region Police spokesperson identifies the suspects as Godfrey ogwang, Thomas Jolly Ipoka and Felix Okumu.
The trio was arrested on Sunday evening for assaulting 65-year-old Francis Ogwang Munu, a resident of Amati village in Kamdini Sub country in Oyam District while enforcing curfew.
Ogwang would later succumb to the injuries he sustained following the assault by the LDUs. According to Odongo, the suspects were identified following investigations into the incident and have since been handed over to the army pending trial in the court martial.
The 4th Division Army spokesperson Maj. Ceaser Olweny, has condemned the actions of the LDUs and confirmed that the suspects are being held at Acolpii army barracks.
