The opposition Forum for Democratic Change, FDC Party has clarified that they are not divided in as far as the Parliamentary Speakership race is concerned.
FDC has once candidate Hon. Ssemujju Nganda, who is also Kira Municipality Member of Parliament. However, rumors have been making rounds that some party members were not in support of his candidature.
While addressing the media at the Party headquarters in Najjanankumbi on Monday morning, the party’s deputy spokesperson John Kikonyogo said that they agreed in National Executive Committee, NEC to participate in speakership race.
According to Kikonyogo, the party requested all individuals interested in standing for speakership to express interest and inform the Party’ electoral commission, but only two have since showed up.
“As we stand today, only two people have so far expressed interest, that’s Hon. Ssemujju for Speakership and Hon. Yusuf Nsibambi for Deputy. By this morning, only those two were still there. Very soon we are going to have a cut off point and if only one candidate per position, that candidate will be forwarded” Kikonyogo noted.
He clarified that there are no differences within the party and that no other candidates have expressed interest but just these two.
