Police Criminal Investigations Directorate-CID is set to arraign Assistant Superintendent of Police- ASP, Dennis Kyeptoyek, the commander of Nyanzi police station in Mityana alongside nine others in court on charges of aggravated robbery.
Trouble for Kyeptoyek started on June 7, when a group of men intercepted a truck belonging to Mukwano industries and robbed 35million Shillings. The CID headquarters then tasked detectives at Wamala Police region to trace and arrest the robbers.
However, during investigations, detectives learnt that the robbers were Boda-Boda riders from Cooper Complex in Kampala who were recruited into the robbery by the truck driver, Moses Serunkuma.
According to the Police Spokesperson CP Fred Enanga, the Boda-Boda riders are Raphael Semaganda, Peter Mukalazi, Yoweri Kironde, Ibra Kyoita, Topher and Andrew.
The robbers hid at Nyanzi River in Kijojo village, Manyi Sub County and came out of their hideout when Serunkuma hooted. Based on the latest report by detectives, after the theft of the Shillings 35million, Serunkuma and his accomplices contacted Yoweri Kironde to provide them security.
He Enanga adds that when they got in touch with Kyeptoyek he asked for Shillings 15million. The CID team has so far recovered Shillings 10.5million. Based on the evidence, police have resolved that Kyeptoyek appear alongside the other suspects in a criminal court as opposed to the police Disciplinary Court.
