Hon Gilbert Olanya, the Kilak South County Member of Parliament has survived death by whisker after his vehicle rammed into a Fuso truck along the Kampala-Gulu highway.
The accident occurred at Kyamukonda village in Nakasongola district at around 8:30 pm on Tuesday, as Olanya was returning to Kampala from Gulu.
According to Isah Ssemwogerere the Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson, a vehicle registration number UAT 491K belonging to the MP rammed into a Fuso truck UBB 861B that was parked along the road.
Olanya didn't sustain any open injuries in the accident, while his driver sustained minor injuries and received first aid at a nearby health center before they proceeded to Kampala city in another car.
He is the fourth MP to be involved in an accident this month after State Minister for the Vice Presidency and Buikwe District Woman MP Diana Mutasingwa Kagyenyi was in an accident two weeks ago, along the Kampala-Gulu highway.
Her car overturned at Bamusuuta village in Nakasongola district.
Also, Buhweju County Member of Parliament Francis Mwijukye’s vehicle knocked and killed two children at Mbizzinya–Kyengera Village near Buwama Town along Kampala-Masaka highway, on Sunday.
The MP survived lynching by angry residents.
Meanwhile on Saturday, the Opposition Chief Whip John Baptist Nambeshe also survived being lynched by an angry mob after knocking a person dead while on his way from Kampala heading to Mbale.
Nambeshe knocked unidentified person at Namwezi along Kampala-Jinja highway in Njeru Municipality, Buikwe District.
