A security guard has been shot dead while his colleague is fighting for his life following an attack by unknown gunmen at Stabex Pump fuel station along Kyabazinga way in Jinja city.
The incident happened in the wee hours of Thursday morning at about 2:30am. The deceased has been identified as 28- year-old Isaac Olupot, who was attached to Security Group Africa Limited-SGA.
His colleague James Okuboi escaped with serious injuries and is battling for his life in the emergency ward of Jinja Regional Referral Hospital.
It is reported that the thugs also made off with Olupot's firearm and unspecified sums of money they snatched from the pump attendants. The thugs were traveling in a transnational trailer.
Efforts to identify the assailants are underway, however the CCTV footage is not clear as the thugs are said to have avoided them.
According to James Mubi, the Kiira Region Police Spokesperson, the deceased’s body is lying at Jinja Regional Referral Hospital mortuary pending post-mortem. A team of detectives and scene of crime officers are still combing the crime scene for more clues.
