Three people are dead and five others have been injured in an accident at Kasile village, Iriiri Parish, Iriiri Sub-county, in Napak District which happened in the wee hours of Tuesday at about 3am.

According to Mike Longole the Ag PRO Mt Moroto, the accident involved MV Reg. No. UBA 005 U, Canter, green in Color driven by an unknown driver who is currently on the run.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the vehicle was moving along Soroti-Moroto road when its headlamp lights went off, causing it to lose control and overturn on the eastern side of the road near the orange orchard.

It was carrying traders who were taking cassava flour to Moroto. Longole identified the deceased as Atino Sarah, Okello Joseph, and Alebo Margret all from Amuria District.
The traders all died on spot, while five others were evacuated to Matany Hospital for treatment with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The three bodies were also taken to Matany Hospital mortuary for postmortem. It is suspected that overspeeding and headlamp lights which went off caused this accident.

Investigations are underway to ascertain the cause of the accident, while  
the search for the driver is also ongoing.
