A Cabinet sitting on Monday, September 12, resolved to carry out a National Housing and Population Census in August next year.
Chris Baryomunsi, the ICT and National Guidance, says the census will happen on August 24 and 25, 2023.
The National Housing and Population Census exercise carried out by the Uganda National Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) will cost Over Shs 300billion.
Dr. Chris Mukiza, the Executive UBOS Director says the body is already mapping out districts in systematic order, and this will go on until May 2023.
The statistics body always carries out the census after every 10 years. During the last Census in 2014, the total population of Uganda was estimated at 34.6 million persons representing an increase of 10.4 million persons from the 2002 census.
Currently, the population size is estimated to have grown to over 45 million since then.
