The High Court in Kampala has overturned a decision made by members of the Uganda Medical Association (UMA), to replace Dr. Samuel Oledo with Edith Nakku Joloba as President.
On Monday, Justice Musa Ssekaana ruled in favor of an application filed by Oledo seeking a temporary injunction to UMA’s extraordinary meeting that voted him out on Sunday.

UMA voted for Joloba as President and suspended Oledo for four years on grounds that he violated articles three and seven of the UMA constitution.
However, on Monday, the Civil Division High Court issued a temporary order staying Oledo as President until a judgment is made on the matter. Justice Ssekaana said he would rule on the matter on Thursday 22, December 2022 through email.
Elvis Ssemuyaba, Oledo’s lawyer, says UMA failed to follow the right procedures while suspending Oledo, and that's why the courts maintained the status quo. He however said the status quo will only remain if the judgment is in their favor.

UMA lawyer Ronald Ewalu says the court ruling will determine their next course of action.
Oledo landed himself in trouble when he teamed up with other medical interns on December 03, 2022, to publicly endorse President Yoweri Museveni for another term come 2026 during a Youth Symposium held at the Kololo ceremonial grounds.
