One person is dead and several others were injured following an accident that occurred on Monday night.
The accident involving motor vehicle Reg No UAV167L Mitsubishi Canter blue in color occurred on 30/1/2023 at Kyasitiri along Kyegegwa-Fortportal high way at about 2020/c.
The said MV was carrying mourners from a burial in Hapuyo village heading to Benga Kamwenge District.
One unidentified male adult of the same address died on Spot. Three other people were seriously injured and these are; Nayebare Naoeme 50yrs, Kyasimire Sharon and Ninsiima Grace who are all admitted at Kyegegwa Hospital.
Others totaling to15 including the driver only identified as Natwijuka sustained minor injuries and are undergoing treatment at the same facility.
According to Vincent Twesige the PRO Rwenzori West, the cause of accident has been attributed to a suspended mechanical fault in the vehicle which failed to climb a hill and came in reverse overturned before falling into a swamp.
The accident scene was visited by AIP Nkwasibwe Alfred the DTO Kyegegwa and team. The deceased’s body was taken to the Kyegegwa hospital mortuary pending postmortem.

Two people perished in an accident that occurred on 30/01/2023 around 1330hrs between Mucwini and Madiopei along Kitgum-Madiopei road involving M/V UBG 771W.
The deceased include the driver identified as Ojede Oscar aged 33yrs resident of Anai Ward, Lira City West Division and the salesman only identified as Odongpiny aged 32yrs, resident of Bucoro village, Unyama sub-county, Gulu District all perished in the nasty accident
ASP Ongom David Mudong the PRO Aswa river region says that it has been established that the duo was distributing Royal Bank local wine to Madiopei from Lira that's when the m/v lost control and overturned killing them instantly.
The Traffic police rushed to the Scene, documented it and the dead bodies were conveyed to Yotkom Hospital mortuary for postmortem. The motor vehicle was towed to Madiopei Police Station pending IOV inspection as more inquiries continue.
