Forum for Democratic change, FDC presidential candidate Col. Dr. Kiiza Besigye has been arrested along Jinja road.

Scuffle ensued when  Besigye who was expected to hold at least 11 short rallies in the city attempted to walk to the venues, while the police blocked him.

Teargas in the City as Besigye is Arrested

Eye witnesses say police with the help of the army used teargas to disperse Besigye’s supporters who did not move, later bullets would be fired as the opposition iron man was arrested.

During a press conference on Friday, EC Chairman Dr. Badru Kiggundu warned candidates against holding processions in the city, claiming this would paralyze peoples’ businesses.

A one Moses, 27, from Makindye Division was shot in the face.

Ssemujju Nganda, the FDC party spokesperson has confirmed Besigye’s arrest and says he is being held at the Central Police Stations.
