President Yoweri Museveni is in the Angola capital Luanda, to attend the 6th Ordinary Summit of ICGLR Heads of State and Government slated for today.
The president is visiting at the invitation of His Excellency José Eduardo dos Santos, President of the Republic of Angola and Chairman of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR).
The ICGLR summit that started this morning is being held under the theme: “Accelerating the effective implementation of the pact and its protocol for a more democratic and stable Great Lakes Region.”
The organization consists of member countries; Angola, Burundi, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
Co-opted members include: Botswana, Egypt, Ethiopia, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, and Zimbabwe.
Among others, the summit will consider reports and receive briefing on the Security and humanitarian Situation in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Central African Republic and Burundi.
The president left on Monday for the summit.
