President Yoweri Museveni has summoned Makerere University non-teaching staff and members of the University Council to state house Entebbe to discuss the University’s continued closure.
The development follows failure by non-teaching staff to call off their strike which has paralyzed work at the Ivory tower for over 3 weeks now.
The University which was scheduled to open on August 6th postponed dates to August 13th before suspending opening indefinitely. It now remains closed over an ongoing strike by the non-teaching staff who are demanding their salary enhancement and arrears.

According to the chairperson of Makerere University Council Dr Charles Wana Etyem, the president requested to meet a 12-member team from the non-teaching staff together with University Council members at today at State House Entebbe.
