Former Rwampara Member of Parliament, the Hon. Vincent Mujuni Kyamadidi is drowning in tears and probably regretting having disappointed his electorate in the 9th Parliament after High court in Mbarara upheld the election of his rival Charles Ngabirano, as the Member of Parliament for Rwampara County.

Vincent Mujuni Kyamadidi, through his lawyer Ngaruye Ruhindi dragged Ngabirano, an NRM member to court on voter intimidation allegations.

In his petition, Kyamadidi alleged that the February election was characterized with vote stuffing, Voter intimidation and alteration of the results. He sued Ngabirano alongside the Electoral Commission for allegedly failing to comply with electoral laws that govern parliamentary elections.

But this afternoon, the long awaited judgement was delivered by High Court Judge Winfred Nabisinde who said that the petitioner had failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the outcome of elections in Rwampara did not reflect the will of the people.

Nabisinde added that the available evidence was not enough to show that any irregularities that existed, substantially affected the results.

According to the presiding judge, some of the witnesses produced in court by the petitioner gave uncoordinated evidence and at times testified in court that they were not aware of what they were witnessing about as if they had come to court drunk.

Counsel Ruhindi, said he would challenge the ruling in a higher court.

Ngabirano welcomed the ruling and accused his opponent of being diversionary. His supporters joined him in celebration after the judgement.
