The opposition Democratic Party has joined thousands of Ugandans in mourning the late Maj. Gen. Julius Oketta who passed on over the weekend after suffering a blockage in a blood vessel in the lungs.
According to the postmortem report presented by Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda the Prime minister, he died of Massive Pulmonary Embolism; a condition that usually results from a blood clot.
Today, Paul Kenneth Kakande the DP publicity Secretary told the press that the Party joins the rest of the country to mourn his passing on.
“We appreciate the achievements of the deceased in his numerous aptitudes and pray that his soul rests in eternal peace. We pass on our sincere condolences to the family, the Army and the country at large for the loss of this senior, patriotic and experienced serving officer.
However, Kakande says that Oketta’s and other deaths continue to raise questions about the sudden deaths in the Army.
“The tears of the late Brig. Noble Mayombo, Gen. Aronda Nyakayirima, Maj. Gen. Ali Bamuze, Maj. Gen. Levi Karuhanga among others are still fresh in our eyes. These and other deaths cannot be taken frivolously as natural deaths at such a time when the country desires regime change.”
