President Yoweri Museveni has addressed the NRM Parliamentary Caucus this morning ahead of their election of party flag bearers for the East African Legislative Assembly, EALA.

The president during the meeting called upon members who will be voted to push for security and integration at the regional assembly.

“EALA elections are a serious matter. It is about electing people who know what is involved in integration. It has three purposes; To cater for prosperity of our people by pushing for a bigger market. The 170 million East Africans offer a big market for shared prosperity. The second issue is security. East Africa aims at creating a political federation beyond economic integration. This gives us security” Museveni told the caucus.

The president added that integration should help reassemble the people scattered by colonialism, while the artificiality created by colonialism should be removed.

“We are not here to give jobs to jobless people. We are here for people who will push for integration of EAC. The NRM should therefore vote people who appreciate these issues and I wish them successful elections.”

The party is choosing representatives to the regional Parliament this afternoon.
